Fishing Regulations

The fishing in North East PA is truly amazing – you can fish in a variety of ponds, streams, and of course Lake Erie. When fishing here you’ll want to pay very close attention to the fishing regulations. The PA Fish Commission monitors and patrols the lake and nearby streams very regularly and not knowing the fishing regulations can cost you dearly. Not following them may mean you’ll see a truck pictured above or a similar boat show up…. If you’re from out of town, take a look at our hotel suggestions.

Lake Erie Fishing Regulations

The vast majority of people fishing in the North East PA area will be on Lake Erie and the fishing regulations for the lake are somewhat different than other areas. When purchasing your fishing license I highly recommend that you buy the Lake Trout/Salmon stamp as well – the last you want is to land a whopper of a trout or salmon only to find out you don’t have the stamp and have violated the fishing regulations.

Stream Fishing Regulations

When fishing in the nearby streams (there are plenty of them in North East PA) you can catch a variety of fish such as brown trout, salmon, carp, and a few other varieties. You need to pay close attention to the people who own the property bordering the stream – most have no problem with you fishing the stream, but you need to clean up after yourself and not damage any of their property.

Overall it’s simple – just follow the fishing regulations that the PA Fish Commission has set up here and you’ll be fine!
