Weather for Lake Erie
When you’re out on the lake in any watercraft you must absolutely pay attention to the weather very closely. Since the lake is the shallowest of all the great lakes it can go from being flat to 2 foot waves in minutes. Whatever you do on the lake, do not under-estimate the weather! There have been far too many boat accidents from what people thought was just a small storm. The other concern is fog, which can roll in and make it impossible to see shore or get any bearing on direction.

The closest major city to North East PA is Erie and you can basically expect the weather in both locations to be very similar, but not exact. You’ll also have to keep in mind that your proximity to Lake Erie has a great deal to do with what you get.
Aside from all of the “normal” weather you may be fortunate enough to see a phenomenon named Aurora Borealis, and a photo of the effect is shown below. It literally makes the sky move…or at least appear to move.
